Volunteer At NECS
Be of service to your Northeast Central Service Office.
NECS has only two part-time staff; almost all its service is done by volunteers. It is a great way to experience the joy and satisfaction that comes from being of service! You can sign up by simply dropping by the office. Or you can fill out the Central Service Volunteer Form. You can complete the form online, or print and mail it.
Ways to serve NECS:
- Take the Phones. (requires two years sobriety)
Answer the NECS hot-line phone overnight or on the weekend. The telephone will be forwarded to your home or mobile phone, so you can move about. You may help a caller find a meeting, answer questions, talk with them briefly, etc. If more is required, you can pass the call on to someone on the 12-step list. .
- Take 12-step Calls (be on the 12-step list)
Be available to take 12-step calls. Whether talking to an alcoholic on the phone, going to meet them, or taking them to a meeting, this is some of the most rewarding service you can do.
- Volunteer at the office during office hours
Help out in person. You may be asked to file, count books and pamphlets, take phone calls, talk to an alcoholic who stops by the office. Whatever it is, it will be most helpful.
- Volunteer to speak at A.A. speaker meetings.
Sometimes small or out-lying groups have a hard time finding speakers for their speaker meetings. You can be of service by filling that need from time to time.
